Watch the video
Step 1: Choose Your Video Source
Decide where your video will come from. You have three main options:
- YouTube
- Vimeo
- Self-hosted video (MP4)
For this tutorial, we’ll focus on embedding a video from YouTube and Vimeo, but the process is similar for self-hosted files.
Step 2: Add a Video Embed
- Open the Showit Canvas view and navigate to the page or section where you want to place the video.
- From the left toolbar, click the “+” icon and select Embed Code.
- Paste the embed code of your video (from YouTube or Vimeo) into the embed box.
- For YouTube: Go to the video on YouTube, click Share > Embed, and copy the code.
- For Vimeo: Go to the video, click Share > Embed, and copy the code.
Tip: If you’re using a self-hosted video, upload it to your site’s Media Library and copy the file’s URL, then embed it using the HTML5 <video>
tag.
Step 3: Customize the Video Display
- Once the video embed is added, you can resize it using the corner drag handles to adjust the dimensions.
- You can also adjust the alignment and spacing in the right-hand panel to fine-tune the position.
- Use the Design panel to apply styles like rounded corners or borders around the video player.
Step 4: Mobile Optimization
Make sure your video is responsive and looks good on mobile devices:
- Use the Mobile View in Showit’s Canvas to check the video’s positioning.
- If needed, adjust the size or alignment for smaller screens to ensure a smooth user experience.
- Optionally, hide or resize the video on mobile for better performance.
