Step 1: What Are Canvas Views?
Canvas views are individual pages or sections of your Showit website. Each canvas corresponds to a distinct page, like your Home page, About page, Contact page, etc. You can think of each canvas as a blank slate where you design the content for a specific part of your website.
- Main Canvas: The main canvas is your homepage or primary layout. It usually contains the key content and navigation.
- Additional Canvases: Additional canvases are used for specific pages or sections, like a Blog, About, or Services page.
Step 2: Navigating Canvas Views
- Open Showit and navigate to the Canvases panel on the left sidebar.
- You’ll see a list of all the canvases for your website. The current canvas will be highlighted, and you can click on any other canvas to switch to it.
- Canvas View Settings: Each canvas has its own settings that allow you to adjust the page layout, size, and behavior. You can access these settings by selecting the canvas and using the right-hand panel.
Step 3: Designing with Canvas Views
- Add New Elements: Within each canvas, you can drag and drop elements like text, images, buttons, or containers. These elements will be unique to the specific canvas.
- Aligning and Organizing: Use Showit’s alignment tools to organize elements within the canvas, ensuring everything is aligned properly and looks great.
- Canvas-Specific Customization: Each canvas can have its own unique background, color scheme, font styles, and layout. This gives you flexibility to design each page of your website differently.
Step 4: Understanding the Canvas Hierarchy
- Home Canvas: This is typically the first canvas visitors will see, often acting as the central page of your site.
- Secondary Canvases: You can add as many canvases as needed for specific purposes. For example, if you need an About or Contact page, each can be a separate canvas.
- Canvas Linking: You can link different canvases together. For example, clicking a “Learn More” button can take users to a different canvas, like your Blog or Shop page.
Step 5: Mobile Canvas Views
- Showit automatically adjusts canvases for mobile responsiveness, but you can customize the mobile view separately for each canvas.
- Switch to Mobile View in the Showit app to ensure the layout looks great on smaller screens. You may need to rearrange elements or adjust sizes for a seamless mobile experience.
Step 6: Previewing and Saving Changes
- Once you’ve made your changes to a canvas, click the Preview button to see how it looks live.
- After previewing, click Save to keep your design changes. You can save changes to individual canvases or to the entire site.
Final Notes
Canvas views are an essential feature of Showit, enabling you to structure your website and design each page to meet your specific needs. Understanding how to navigate and use canvases will help you build a more efficient and organized Showit website.
